Born in the Whitsundays, Burnups Design Division (BDD) is an interior decorating studio which has been servicing the region for some 25+ years. Being a family run and operated business we have a passion for what we do and the amazing area we do it in! Attached to our mother company, Burnups Furniture Court and Beds R Us, which has been owned and operated by the Burnup family since 1950, BDD has a great understanding of the region. This also enables us to provide furniture packages at commercial pricing utilizing our direct overseas imports and Australian supply chains.
Each of our projects are custom designed to our client’s style, needs and budget in order to achieve that WOW look! Here at BDD we pride ourselves on producing a customised and quality result. With Airlie Beach being the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands, we have extensive experience in servicing both the mainland region, and the islands, as well as holiday let and commercial properties.

Fun facts about the team…
Growing up in the area, I learnt how to swim and tie boat knots before I could sing my ABC’s… With a strong passion for the creative arts, I moved to the city to study Interior Design and Music at university. After studying I spent time working in the industry and travelling. Having travelled extensively, I always found it incredibly interesting the different styles that every city and town have, each place has its own characteristics which are expressed in the fashion, interiors and architecture of the region. It was only when I moved back to the region that I realised how true this was for the Whitsundays and our love of the great outdoors and the ocean!
I have been involved in Burnups Design Division for over 20 years, meaning I have seen many styles come and go – some I would rather forget! The Whitsundays however, has a certain eternal style both in life and design which reflects the beautiful area and the people in it. While the Whitsundays has certainly progressed, going from strength to strength over the years, it still maintains its magic. In my spare time I love being out on the water, fishing and attending as many music gigs as I can!
We have an awesome logistical team, comprised of our logistics manager Jason who organises barges, delivery and installation along with our team of storeman. We deliver and install ourselves so that we can ensure everything is done to a high standard.
We will start everything off with an initial consultation to discuss the property, its function, style, must have/have nots, and time frame…
After the initial consultation, we will go away and spend some time considering the client and property. From this we will create an initial design concept, which we will then present to you.
This stage is all about perfecting the design concept with you, so that we can ensure we are achieving the look you love.
Once we have locked in the design concept, we move onto installation. During this stage we will take our in-house team to the property and build, install, and set up all items. If requested, we can also remove the old items. Taking our team to the property ensures that the work is completed to a high standard. Once we have finished the install, the client is free to walk in and enjoy a Pina Colada…
